Not long ago, I transferred many different DX publications, mainly bulletins, issued by different authors of the USSR and Russia for storage to the St. Petersburg DX Club and considered this the right measure, since I remember how after many DX listeners "passed away to another world", all the materials were simply thrown into the trash bin. We do not have a museum dedicated to our hobby. Let's take a short trip to 1991. In Moscow, the Moscow DX Association is created and the bulletin "MOSCOW PRESENTS" is published (the title page can be viewed here: https://rusdx.blogspot.com/2025/08/moscow- presents.html), in which I first took part as an editor of a small section "Radio Broadcasting in the USSR" (can be viewed here: https://rusdx.blogspot.com/2025/08/blog-post_11.html). A bit of history. Source: Weekly electronic publication "Moscow Information DX Bulletin" # 462 / 2006. "ANNIVERSARY. 15 years ago, in January 1991, an amateur printed publication, as it was then customary to call it "samizdat", was published, with which the longest history of the periodical DX-publication in our country begins. We are talking about the Moscow Information DX Bulletin. I will say right away that the bulletin that appeared in 1991 was not the first. Before it, there were other "samizdat" bulletins that were published back in the years when it was not entirely safe to talk about "radio voices" from abroad. But today we will talk specifically about the birth of the Moscow Information DX Bulletin, since it is turning 15 years old, and although it has not been published in printed form for several years, the life of this publication continues on the Internet. The idea of publishing a printed edition was born at a meeting of a small group of DXers who met, if my memory serves me right, thanks to an announcement read in the DX program of Radio Sweden. The author of this announcement suggested that fellow DXers communicate by correspondence. After some time, five Muscovites decided to meet to get acquainted and communicate in person. The result of this communication was the idea of creating the "Moscow DX Association". Here is what is written in the first issue of the bulletin for January 1991: "The idea to create the "Moscow DX Association" came during a meeting of Moscow DXers on July 22, 1990. The goal of the Association is to popularize the DX movement in the Soviet Union. The Association is a regional organization and accepts only DXers from Moscow and the region. The initiative group includes five people. The members of the Association take part in the preparation of DX programs for Moscow Radio, collaborate with the DX program of Alma-Ata Radio and publish the bulletin "Moscow Presents", the first issue of which we offer to your attention." Yes, the first four issues of the bulletin were called exactly that. And the initiative group then included Mikhail Paramonov, Anatoly Klepov, Andrey Nekrasov, Sergey Sosedkin and your humble servant. And of course, the common cause for all members of the so-called initiative group was the release of a printed publication. It was based on the principle of collective creativity. That is, each member of the editorial board of the bulletin collects information and writes on the topic that interests him. From this, a variety of material is collected, which should make the bulletin interesting to any DX-ist, regardless of what ranges he likes to listen to and what stations he hunts. In May 1991, it was decided to change the English name of the bulletin to Russian, and it became known as the "Information Bulletin of the Moscow DX Association". And soon it became clear that the idea of creating the Association did not go anywhere beyond an idea, but the idea of publishing a regular monthly bulletin gradually developed. Authors and correspondents began to appear, sending various notes, broadcast news and even entire articles for the bulletin. Many became regular correspondents of the bulletin, and some, the most active, wanted to become members of the editorial board, taking on part of the difficult burden of regularly collecting, editing and publishing materials on the pages of the publication. I am now deliberately not naming any more names, because I want to remember everyone who collaborated with this publication in the past, and, of course, talk to those who continue to be among the authors of the now electronic publication. And therefore I appeal to everyone who had or has a connection with the Moscow Information DX Bulletin. Let's remember together in the coming months how it all began, what was interesting and memorable, how, perhaps, the bulletin helped someone. I'm afraid that this will sound too loud, but still it seems to me that the history of this publication largely reflects the history of the Russian DX-movement over the past 15 years. Let's go back 15 years and see what was written in the first issue of then "Moscow Presents"... (Vadim Alekseev, Moscow) Details in Russian: https://subscribe.ru/archive/radio.midxb/200602/14180518.html In 1991, my bulletin appeared - an English-language publication about radio broadcasting in the USSR called "Soviet Radio Today". In 2026, it will also be 35 years old. A small anniversary of two bulletins. We didn't know what was waiting for us ahead, so I'll tell you a little about that time when everything was different and we were young and didn't think about tomorrow and thought that everything would remain as it is, but life changes and the old remains only in memory. Today we will remember the past. But that's another story. ========================== FROM KAMCHATKA TO THE BALTICS ========================= * Altaiskiy kKrai. --------------------- Want to play the radio in Biysk and its environs? Correct me if I'm wrong. But the radio station Radio 1 was remembered as one of the most powerful, and at the same time interesting stations. The studio always had a warm and cozy atmosphere. Interesting guests were often invited. And most importantly, no advertising! Its call sign is the beginning of the song "My native country is wide", performed on some instrument unknown to me. The program was broadcast by television in the northern capital. At first, it was considered an absolute failure. But over time, it managed to gain truly crazy popularity. In any case, this fact was proven by a number of social surveys. A colossal number of residents of Leningrad and the region watched it regularly. The program was broadcast twice a week. And it lasted almost three hours. Usually, it consisted of several blocks and touched upon issues of politics, history, culture, etc. In addition, the editorial staff tried to pay close attention to topics previously closed to the viewer. Subsequently, a number of blocks were transformed into separate programs. And their hosts, accordingly, became popular not only in Leningrad, but also throughout the entire territory of the Soviet Union. Thus, Bella Kurkova, who was the editor-in-chief of the program, was even a people's representative. The suspension of broadcasts will reportedly affect twenty-two long-wave and medium-wave frequencies currently used by Societatea Română de Radiodifuziune radio stations, namely 153, 531, 558, 567, 603, 630, 711, 720, 756, 855, 909, 945, 1053, 1152, 1179, 1314, 1332, 1404, 1422, 1458, 1530 and 1593 kHz.
