It has survived to this day. I turned it off officially upon request, since the Internet and television have become more accessible. Moscow subscribers are provided with broadcasts of three radio stations via wired broadcasting lines using a three-program radio receiver: Radio Rossii, Mayak, Radio Moskvy. If you have a single-program radio receiver installed, you will have access to the broadcast of Radio Rossii. Using the main subscriber radio point - 154.26 rubles per month. Details in Russian - https://rsvo.ru/wired-radio-broadcasting/moskva-abonentam-fizicheskim-litsam (editor) - Radio point - the voice of the era! A look at the history of wired radio. In houses built during the Soviet era, you can still see a socket-like connector for connecting a radio point. In those days, when not every family even had a TV, the radio literally served as a "window to the world" for millions of people. Now it is rather a rarity, but if you connect a loudspeaker to such a radio point, it will work as before (unless, of course, you disconnected it by request). Details in Russian + pictures: https://dzen.ru/a/ZqdR4pvhXzWreyGc (https://dzen.ru/lavkastariny) - In case of general alarm, everyone will be raised from their beds by voice: the old-fashioned method was considered reliable. The final decision here will be up to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The State Duma decided to return the so-called radio points to homes. In this case, we are talking about new buildings. The Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption of the Parliament decided to ask the opinion of the Ministry of Emergency Situations about how useful and in-demand radio points are today in principle. Currently, radio points have survived to this day in old houses and in some places a monthly subscription fee is even charged for them. Every citizen has the right to disconnect an existing radio point without any problems by submitting an application through the MFC. And now they don't even run wires to new buildings. However, the State Duma decided that in the current conditions, radio points are a reliable and fast communication channel for transmitting emergency messages. However, the parliamentarians stipulated that the final decision here will be up to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Experts note that radio communication traditionally surpasses SMS and the Internet in terms of notification speed, accessibility and coverage - especially considering that the "distribution" of information via radio can be organized automatically and for all subscribers at once, and the radio points themselves can operate even when switched off, reports "Parliamentary Newspaper". S. Popov Central Museum of Communications. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the beginning of radio broadcasting in the country. "Government decrees, the first radio broadcasts, music programs, reports from the front - all this could be conveyed to the population only with the help of radio communications. It is wonderful that the Central Museum of Communications has taken on the important task of telling about radio. This is not the first and certainly not the last time we cooperate with the museum. The exhibition turned out to be very informative and, I think, will be of interest to many," said Ruslan Gagkuev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, at the opening ceremony. You know, I write you something about Powerful Radio Broadcasting. Then I open forums or chats... And there are real wild fantasies and verbal battles. "We need this station there, or that one", "We don't need another one - I don't like the content", "Oh, and for such an order the center can't even dream" and so on. In short, armchair reasoning. There is absolutely no sense in it, but "graphomania" is fashionable now. And everything would be fine, but in the end, they give birth to fabrications, which people meekly believe. Now there will be "the obvious-incredible" From October 1, PRTC stops broadcasting sessions of Transworld Radio. Broadcasting of programs on frequencies of 621 kHz and 1548 kHz will be removed. The reasons that formed the basis for the termination of broadcasts are two points: 1. Reduction of financial funds. 2. Sanction pressure. The main reason, of course, is the second. Since 2023, PRTC has been included in the sanctions list. Transmirovoe Radio is a foreign customer. Such cooperation in the field of radio broadcasting is not approved in the United States and TMR suffers losses from fines under the sanctions policy. PRTC has been a Russian radio center since 2007. (Viktor Varzin, Leningradskaya oblast, Kommunar, Russia / "deneb-radio-dx") * Club Spotlight: Japan Shortwave Club - 72 Years of Radio Passion! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Japan Shortwave Club (JSWC) JSWC is one of the oldest radio clubs in the world, established in 1952 by two young college students in Sendai City, 350 km north of Tokyo. The purpose of this club is to organize Japanese SW listeners and publish monthly bulletins to exchange DX information and promote friendship among SW listeners and between broadcasters and listeners. The club has issued English bulletins, which have been respected as the most reliable DX information from the Far East. Mr. O Lund-Johannsen, the Publisher and Editor of The World Radio Handbook wrote to us a letter to congratulate our club's foundation. Among the many international activities of our club, the most noteworthy one was the Radio St. Helena revival project. JSWC was the key contributor of this project, donating 100W transceiver and 2000 Euro in cash. The once-a- year revival broadcasts were heard worldwide in Nov. 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The accumulated total of our club members is more than 9000 in the past 72 years, but the current active members are 300 plus. The annual membership fee is 4000 Yen, but foreign members should pay extra postage fee if they want to receive the bulletins by postal mail. To contact us, send an e-mail to: JSWCHQ[at]gmail, or write us to: JSWC, P. O. Box 44, Kamakura, 248-8691, Japan, by postal mail. Recent topics of JSWC JSWC publishes Monthly bulletin called SW-DX Guide, which covers SW and FM DX News, SW QSL information and domestic QSL information. One thing unique in Japanese radio communities is that many community FM stations issue colorful QSLs, although their service area is very small. Some collectors of those QSLs travel to their service areas to get those rare QSLs. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual club meetings had been held online since 2020, but finally in-person meetings were resumed in February 2024. In January 2024, in the Japanese program of Reach Beyond Australia our club members presented annual summary on what had happened in the SWL/DXing in the world during 2023. JSWC set up an exhibition booth in Tokyo Ham Fair 2024, which was held in August this year. About forty thousand people visited the Fair. Every month during a week starting on the 1st Sunday JSWC broadcasts "Japan DX Report," a five-minute DX news program in English aired during the DX program called "Wavescan," which is broadcast through AWR, WRMI, and IRRS. Every year JSWC issues new QSL to the correct reports sent to Japan DX Report and to some radio programs in which JSWC members appear as guests. The reception reports should be sent to JSWCQSL[at]live.jp Or JSWC QSL, P. O. Box 44, Kamakura 249-8691, Japan together with 1 IRC or 2 US dollars for return postage. (Newsletter WRTH) * The Story Behind the First Pocket Radio. ------------------------------------------------ Imagine your boss gathered you in May to announce that 10% of the company's revenue would go toward creating a new mass-market product based on technology not yet ready for mass production. And the product would hit store shelves in less than six months, in time for the holiday shopping season. Ambitious? Yes. Challenging? Definitely. That's exactly what Pat Haggerty, vice president of Texas Instruments, did in 1954. The result was the Regency TR-1, the world's first commercial transistor radio, which debuted 70 years ago this month. The engineers carried out Haggerty's audacious plan, and likely received hefty bonuses for it.
