Fortunately, there were outputs for tuning on the back panel for this. Tuning was according to a table that was broadcast before the start of the programs. (editor) - One of the stories from the Internet about this table. The legend of Soviet television - TIT-0249 ("Television test table, February 1949). Table: https://vk.com/retrotvussr?z=photo-177507201_457244517%2Fwall-177507201_13634 In the mid-80s, it was still transmitted accurately. Despite its pretentious appearance, each element there is in its place. For example, the circles in the corners are used to adjust the linearity of the raster. That is, they should really be circles, not ellipses. At the edges of the image are triangles - "reference points". If they are not visible, then the image goes beyond the screen. Diverging lines in the circles allow you to evaluate the clarity of the image - numbers from 3 to 6 provide information about this in hundreds of television lines. If in the area of number 5, individual lines are no longer distinguishable and merge into one, then the clarity of the image is approximately 500 lines. Small circles in the center of the frame and in squares B2, B7, D2 and D7 allow you to check the focusing of the beam. Lines at an angle of 45 degrees in squares B3 and B6 show the quality of interlaced scanning. Black horizontal stripes in squares D3 and D6 - the presence or absence of frequency and phase distortions. You can also determine the number of gradations of brightness from white to black colors... It is even possible to start a fire. There are more and more autonomous gadgets with a built-in battery in the modern world. These are smartphones, smart watches, smart bracelets, wireless headphones, tablets, laptops, etc. All of them require battery recharging from time to time, and this must be done correctly. Otherwise, the device may partially lose functionality, fail, or even cause a fire. Thus, in an interview with NEWS.ru (https://news.ru/tehnologii-i-gadzhety/nazvan-samyj-pozharoopasnyj-sposob-zaryadki- gadzhetov/), Vitaly Savchenko, Vice-Rector for Digital Development and Information Technology at the State University of Education, spoke about the most unsafe charging methods. The most fire-hazardous method, according to him, is charging the gadget under the pillow. Due to reduced air circulation, the device overheats, and when the critical temperature is reached, the battery of the device can ignite. This poses a threat to life and health and is fraught with the occurrence of a fire. Retsker and N.L. Rashkovich. With the appendix of the decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the instruction of the People's Commissariat of Labor and Social Protection on private receiving radio stations. The book by H. Gunther and F. Fuchs "Der praktischc Radioama teur" called in translation "Radio for Everyone" is one of the best German popular books devoted to issues of radio engineering and amateur radio intended for the widest layers of the population. Before joining WSHU in 1990, he spent 14 years as a design engineer and project manager in the broadcast industry. He holds an FCC commercial radio license and an amateur radio license. - In the beginning, there was Morse code. Once radio waves and how to generate them were discovered, the question arose of how to use them for communication. Since the transmitter could be turned on and off with a telegraph key, it could transmit long and short bursts of radio waves corresponding to the long and short dashes and dots of Morse code. The receiver picked up these bursts and converted them into audible dashes and dots that the operator could hear. Given the reliability of telegraph communications, large commercial carriers such as Marconi's were quite satisfied. However, amateur radio operators using amplitude modulation (AM) to incorporate sound into radio signals, not to mention the general public listening to them, were more interested in sound that could be perceived, be it voice or music. Thus, radio broadcasting was born. Article by Simon Keenes - Sales and Business Development Manager, Ampegon Power Electronics AG. Source: Radio World. My first car, a 1984, had a shortwave radio, but I never got around to using it. I was young, it was old and therefore unworthy of my attention. Besides, the signal it received was mostly weird talk radio, the tone changing as I accelerated. What can you do with unshielded spark plugs? Instead, I had a huge selection of pop music available on FM, and big plans to upgrade the dash-mounted CD player (which never worked)! No one who ever listened to FM really prefers the old analogue shortwave. Analog does not have enough bandwidth to provide stereo sound and is susceptible to atmospheric distortion and interference (unshielded spark plugs). Let's be honest: people like analog shortwave only when there is nothing else. People living in rural areas without FM coverage; people with no choice; people with authoritarian power in the country who want to know what the rest of the world thinks. I understand that a significant percentage of the world's population falls into these three simple groups. But we can agree that these people also deserve access to quality radio broadcasting.
