Broadcasting in Russian by the international service Radio Afghanistan began in January 1961. The station had low-quality transmitting equipment and was unlucky with the choice of frequencies. Therefore, there were often problems with receiving the station. I remember the only period when audibility was unusually good for three years from 1974 to the end of 1976. The broadcast was carried out during the day at a frequency of 15195 kHz from 13.30 to 15.00 Moscow time for half an hour consecutively in Russian, German and English. True, the time for listening was inconvenient, but I sometimes adapted to listen at work in a special laboratory, where I first did my internship, and then worked for a short time before the army. There was some kind of service radio in the laboratory, which I used. Over the years, the content of Russian Radio Afghanistan broadcasts has remained approximately the same. This was the case in 1974: news, Russian music, commentary, Afghan music, conversation (about Afghanistan), Afghan music. The broadcasts covered the changes taking place in Afghanistan since the recent overthrow of the monarchy in July 1973 and the activities of President Mohammed Daoud Khan, the cousin of the former king Mohammed Zahir Shah, whom he overthrew. These were the last years of relative stability, after which, from April 1978, a period of revolutions and civil wars began in Afghanistan. In the early 80s, and perhaps earlier, some periodicals sold in Soyuzpechat kiosks in other countries published schedules of foreign, including Russian-language broadcasting in these countries: Radio Afghanistan - in the newspaper "Kabul new times", Radio Damascus - in the newspaper "Syria times", Radio Ulaanbaatar - in the newspaper "News of Mongolia", BBC - in the magazine "England". (Vladimir, Rybinsk, Yaroslavlskaya oblast, Russia). ======================= FROM KAMCHATKA TO THE BALTIKA ======================= Frequency competition. --------------------- - On April 24, 2024 (https://rkn.gov.ru/docs/Soobshhenie_o_rezul6tatakh_k_04.24_ot_24.04.2024.docx) a meeting of the Federal Competition Commission for Television and Radio Broadcasting was held. Since the first telephone was presented to the public, inventors and designers have put a lot of effort into making a modern means of communication out of a primitive device. Dedicated to the first stamp... On May 1, 1840, the London Post Office was unusually busy: the world's first postage stamps with a portrait of Queen Victoria went on sale. The brand was called "Penny Black". And from May 6, these stamps were allowed to be stuck on envelopes and used when sending letters. The collage contains a stamp sheet "Penny Black" and a Russian pre-revolutionary postcard "The Language of Postage Stamps". "The language of stamps" is a way of conveying a secret message using postage stamps. In 1840, stamps began to be issued and used in Great Britain, which won the sympathy of postal workers around the world. The lovers began to use the stamp as a means of conveying a secret message. Having studied all the positions of the stamp on postcards and envelopes, one could secretly confess one's love, invite them on a date, accuse them of silence, or inform about the meeting place. In Russia, a postcard was called an open letter. The "language of brands" was used as actively as in other countries. The revolution put an end to this self-indulgence. Radio amateurs and radio specialists are quite well aware of the beginning of radio broadcasting in the USSR, the first amateur radio communications on the air. It's an amazing fact, but we still know almost nothing about the main participant in mass radio-the radio listener. Who were these people, at least from what groups and segments of the population? What interested them, what did they listen to on sleepless nights, from what distance did a living voice come to them, or the squeak of Morse code? How did radio listening begin and develop in our country, has it always been the law? Ultimately, what is the simple ratio of joy and sadness for a radio listener, received from the all- pervasive electromagnetic wave ether, from the Radio we all love? The complex was developed by specialists from MegaFon together with the Trialink company. The system is based on trunking technology - with its help rescuers, emergency services or private security organizations maintain instant communication in emergency situations. Previously, foreign terminals and servers were used for this. For our development, the mobile operator has allocated a cloud in which data is transmitted at a speed of 300 Mb/s and any file is supported: voice, video or geolocation. The main thing is autonomous access to the network. If there is no connection in the area of operation, the access point is deployed independently and they control what is happening from anywhere. The honorary award was given to artists, musicians, composers, and poets who every day fill the lives of radio station listeners with magic - the magic of music around poetry. "This year the Chanson of the Year award has an important innovation. From now on, each figurine has its own identification number. In addition, the award itself has acquired its own passport, which contains the numbers of the statuettes, as well as all information about the laureates. But that is not all! Next year, each figurine will come with its own individual passport! These changes not only take the award to a completely different status level, but will also make it possible to maintain a documentary catalog of figurines. So in the future, anyone will be able to find out by the number when and for which song the main award was given in chanson in Russian!" - shared the editor-in-chief of "Radio Chanson" Rustem Akhmetshin. The magazine has opened a section with a gallery of QSL (receipt cards) from broadcast radio stations received by long-distance reception amateurs, or as they call themselves - DXists. Like amateur stations, each broadcast station has its own call sign. They can be different: such as "Lighthouse", "Pacific Ocean" or "Radio Habana Cuba", and also alphabetic, seemingly meaning nothing to the average person. For example WBCQ, KYOI or KSKO, LRA36, etc., there are also various others. The vast majority of such radio stations send QSL - confirmation of reception of their broadcasts. DXists collect them in their collections. QSLs are usually printed on paper, or so-called. eQSL, that is, a file with a digital image of them. Alas, nowadays many radio stations are announcing the cessation of sending paper QSLs, justifying the lack of personnel to fill them out and the increase in sending costs. Which is definitely sad. However, the collection of QSLs for a DXist is a goal; their number is a certain milestone on the path of life. It is considered prestigious to boast about it. But there are not so many places in the world that are convenient and accessible for everyone to display their collections. We invite DXists from home and abroad to post their collections on our magazine's social network. Managing the collection is not difficult; after each QSL is posted, you can sign it or tell about the circumstances of acceptance/receipt of this copy. If desired, each reader (previously registered on the site) can leave his impressions and comment on the image, ask and receive an answer about the circumstances of the reception, etc. To download collections, you need to register on the site, fill out your "profile", create and name your blog or "group", create and name an "album", place QSL images in the album. The first to post his gallery was Russian DXist and shortwave operator Valery Sheptukhin R5GF from Lipetsk. Valery is the author and host of the RADIOPRIEOM channel in Telegram, host of the DX section in our magazine and Radio magazine. (https://qst.su/archives/30232) Southeast Asia DXing. By T. L. Breyel. The note briefly describes the history and current state of national radio broadcasting and somehow makes it clear to a foreign visitor to the site that the new authorities represented by the Taliban are not at all opponents of radio. It would be appropriate to recall that it was on this site (in the previous version) that until 2019 it was possible to listen online to two national radio programs, whose logos are shown in the picture - Radio Afghanistan-105.2FM and Radio Kabul-93FM, which broadcast international broadcasts in the evenings. Broadcasting "Radio Afghanistan" in four languages, including Russian. His page on social networks is replete with amazing photographs of nature and the faces of his fellow radio amateurs. In January of this year, Nodir's acquaintances had the opportunity to enjoy exclusive photographs from the uninhabited Clipperton Island, where the Tajik radio amateur went on his next expedition. Nodir's call sign is EY8MM. For those who do not understand radio communications, this is just an incomprehensible set of numbers and letters. But it is with the help of such unique "names" that identify themselves and others that radio amateurs recognize each other and communicate. From this call sign it is clear that Nodir is from Tajikistan from the city of Dushanbe.
