Now more than ever your support is needed. Regardless of what frequency and what program you listen to: Radio Pyti Uglov (Five Corners Radio), Rock Panorama or "Bukhta Svobodnyh Voln (Free Wave Bay), I want to say that the 3940 kHz radio frequency you love so much needs your support. And now we are not talking about financial assistance (although this issue has always been relevant), we are talking about something else. After the resumption of broadcasting after a technical break, namely on June 3, 2022, reception reports are coming from European countries, but there are no confirmations from Russia, although we know for sure that there are a certain number of listeners there. I would ask all Russian-speaking people who are interested in continuing the operation of the station at a frequency of 3940 kHz to register on our website in the "Radio listeners" group. We will try to organize the mailing of letters to your mail, in which we will indicate the frequency and time of the broadcast and an approximate program (if you wish, you can unsubscribe from this mailing list). Now you just need to find out how many listeners the frequency has in principle, and whether the efforts are worth your attention. If you are interested in the fate of the project, please let us know as soon as possible. We will be very happy to receive your letters, which, I hope, will be broadcast, or we will publish them directly in the group, so that the author of the idea and project will receive inspiration from you and feel that he is not trying in vain. Now everything depends on you and these are not just words, because we all asked to continue broadcasting and not stop at least for a while! To the most active, we plan to send cards of our club and, possibly, some other souvenirs. However, we warn you that the shipping is paid by the addressee. We hope to meet again on the air. At the end of May, the owner of the Chanson radio station changed. Serpukhov, which is now owned by Sergei Dalmatovich (now an entrepreneur, previously provided legal and PR support to ex-mayor Pavel Zalesov) and Andrei Marynich (now an entrepreneur). Tahmina Mokan became their new mistress - apparently she is the sister of the president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Umar Kremlev. According to OKA.FM, representatives of the Kremlin this summer also negotiated with the owners of another Serpukhov media group about the possibility of acquiring Europa Plus and Retro FM stations. In none of the cases were the amounts of the transactions disclosed. Also, representatives of Umar Kremlev negotiated with the owners of the KORSTON State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company on its acquisition. Robert Aguzarov, director of the RTRS branch in North Ossetia-Alania, noted that the necessary requirements for seismic resistance and wind protection were taken into account during the construction. "Today, the installation of metal structures up to a height of 20 meters has already been completed. The first two tiers have been rebuilt, the work is proceeding according to the schedule. It will be a complex facility with an administrative building, technological equipment and everything necessary for television broadcasting. The uniqueness of the tower is that we are at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, and the tower will rise another 210 meters - in fact, there is no such structure at such a height," said Robert Aguzarov. They help sort packages. This was reported by the press service of the postal network operator. According to the old scheme, a person himself goes to the sorting cell to place a parcel in it. So he can process an average of 2-3 items per minute. Thanks to the new technology, the employee stands still, puts the parcel on the robot. The reader above it then recognizes the barcode. The code contains the address and index, which determine which courier the shipment will travel with. After that, the system gives a command to unload the parcel in the desired cell. Further, the departures go to courier delivery around the city. Result: processing speed increased to 15-18 parcels per minute. In addition, robots move on a special coating on ramps, which eliminates the need for expensive floor processing. Check out the video of cute yellow robots on wheels sorting packages: https://youtu.be/jrrcoNaRopI The Russian Post stated that this scheme of work will further speed up the delivery of parcels to the recipient. The state-owned company also noted that it plans to continue "hiring" robots for other positions. STORY. ========================= Russia ---------- Virtual museum and reference book "Domestic technology of the XX century". Detector radio receivers. The detector radio receiver ''DV-5'' (Detector, Broadcasting, 5th model) has been producing the Moscow EMZ since 1929. The receiver replaced the "DV-4" model. The main difference from the "DV-4" receiver is the rigid mounting of the detector, first on the top panel, and later inside the case. The radio receiver "DV-5" operates in the range of 300 ... 2000 meters. Rough tuning to the frequency is carried out by switching turns, and smooth by variometer. A separate switch regulates communication with the antenna. The radio receiver uses a DS-4 detector. The recommended antenna is a dipole or a long wire from 40 m. The output of the device is loaded with high-impedance telephones. The radio receiver ''DV-5'' is decorated in a painted wooden case with instructions pasted on the side. Ritz Denmark --------------- - Russia July 18, 2022 According to the RTRS website, on July 11, the St. Petersburg RC branch of the RTRS temporarily suspended the broadcast of Radio Maria in St. Petersburg at a frequency of 1053 kHz * and Vyborg at 92.6 MHz. The decision to turn off the transmitter before September 10 was made by the broadcaster. Radio Maria is a round-the-clock broadcast in which we strive to convey to our listener, who we consider as a friend and interlocutor, regardless of his religious beliefs, all the diversity of human culture. After all, it is through culture, art, the history of mankind with all its ups and downs, wanderings in darkness and great insights that we preach the Christian gospel. We do not reject anything positive and good from what is brought to life by man at different times, in different cultures and civilizations. However, everything is assessed in the light of a worldview determined by the Christian choice: be it literary heritage, music and fine arts, scientific achievements, the development of civilizations, philosophical teachings, the history of the Church and the history of the peoples of the world. Radio Maria website: https://radiomaria.ru/ * - the RTRS website erroneously indicates the frequency of 105.3 MHz, on which Love Radio broadcasts - approx. ed. [Added] In their VKontakte group, the station reports that the reason for the suspension of broadcasting is financial: We do not give up; we are trying to find funds and get back on the air on CB and FM. Germany http://topnews.wwdxc.de http://www.wwdxc.de/ ------------------------------------ ESTONIA / Former USSR radio history Laitse Raadiojaam, Eesti - Laitse Radio Station, Estonia Part I After World WarII, the Government of the USSR decided to radically restore radio broadcasting in Soviet Estonia. The area for transmission was chosen 34 km from Tallinn, close to a small village called Laitse and very near to the old castle - Laitse Loss 59 12 12 N 24 24 12 E In the early 1950's the Tx building and the first mast of 178m were con- structed for transmission on 611 kHz Radio Moscow programs in Russian and Estonian mostly for the local audience. Because the height of the antenna wasn't tall enough, the effectiveness of emission was too low. In 1954 the antenna of 220m was built, which fit with half of the wavelength of 611 / 612 kHz. But soon about 1/3 of it collapsed because of a technical flaw. The engineers left it as it was (132 / 137m) and attached on the top of the antenna a kind of "umbrella" to tune the shortened antenna to half of the wavelength of 1034 / 1035 kHz. Then in 1972 a new technical building and a little bit of a higher mast of 186m were completed to relay on 612 kHz the All-Union counterpropaganda program Mayak (lighthouse). In accordance with the plan the Laitse Tx site must have 3 transmitters: 1. the Russian MW TX - STORM-5 of 150 kW (2 x 75 kW) on 1035 kHz, 2. the Russian SW TX - SNEG (snow) of 100 kW on 5925 kHz, 3. the England-made MW TX - STANDARD of 150 kW on 612 kHz. The antenna field covered about 40 hectares of land. On the early images of the Google Earth you could see over 20 SW masts and 2 big MW antennas. There were 2 horizontal rhombic antennas of 293 / 113 degrees azimuth to North America or for jamming purposes. In the 1960's 2 antenna systems were used as the phone communication lines to Cuba. Also the 4 mast an- tenna system for transmission abroad on 5925 kHz could be seen there. Since 1978 Radio Moscow started to transmit Government propaganda abroad over many radio stations in the Soviet Republics, where their programs originated and were censored by Moscow. The radio Tallinn and Estonian Radio were some of them. The MW TX of 1035 kHz broadcast its programs mostly for neighboring countries - Finland, Sweden and for some European countries in Finnish, German, English, Swedish, Estonian and Esperanto. In 1986 Radio Tallinn and Estonian Radio started to use the SW TX on 5925 kHz for broadcasting to the Estonian Diaspora. But transmitting time was very short and the power was too low. Because of the power - a half of 100 kW - the Estonians in many European countries couldn't catch the weak signals, not mentioning about the listeners in America. As a matter of fact, many Estonians preferred to listen to the radio sta- tions from Finland and Sweden (Finnish is understandable for Estonians) and they enjoyed watching the Finnish and Swedish TV programs. The Soviet programs broadcast to Finland in Finnish were especially popular among the Estonians because they were less censored and more liberal than the local Soviet programs in Estonian. (Lev Lytovchenko-Edmonton-Alb-CAN, SWsites / wwdxc BC-DX TopNews July 17) Laitse Raadiojaam, Eesti - Laitse Radio Station, Estonia Part II The Soviet jammers were unable to properly silence the transmission from abroad because of its close proximity. It's worthy to note about a curious phenomenon of using of 5925 kHz. Each time when the station worked, the villagers of Laitse couldn't watch TV - the ETV Tallinn Channel 2. In spite of the low power the 10th harmonic of 5925 kHz was strong enough to block the TV signal ! To solve this problem the authorities decided to lay a local cable network to the houses. Since 1988 the political situation in Estonia made the station in Laitse to start broadcasting in English more often, as well in Finnish and Swedish. However, using the SW TX at half of the power made it one of the weakest in all three Baltic States. An independent Estonia added the new frequency of 9650 kHz to improve the broadcast in English. Now it's hard to find any information about the usage of this frequency. There is a report that in 1991 Radio Tallinn wasn't heard on 9650 kHz. On Dec. of 1991, when the Soviet Union was no more, the radio stations of the sovereign Republics continued operating. Radio Tallinn on 5925 kHz was a hard catch for American Dxers. The early 1990's were a time of stress for many International Broadcasting Services because of increased costs and shortage of the national budgets everywhere in the World. In that period of time the modest external service of Radio Tallinn and Radio Estonia became very unstable. Here are some reports of that period of time: "In 1993 Radio Estonia dropped its modest External Service"; "In 1994 Radio Estonia, absent for about a year, returned to SW with a small external service on 5925 kHz": "In 1998 Radio Estonia, 5925 kHz, again left the SW". It seemed that neither the Government nor the Estonians were interested to support their National External Broadcasting Service. Finally, on July 1st 1998 all transmitters in the Laitse Tx site were switched off for good ! The Station in Laitse, which was older than half a century, was closed by financial shortage and it was the first one in Europe to be closed. In 2001 all masts made with steel, including 186 and 132 / 137m masts, were disassembled and utilized. The control panel of the English TX STANDARD (the oldest one) with some of its parts were sent to the Estonian Museum of Broadcasting. It would be interesting to mention that England - made transmitter was brought to Estonia in 1949 from Hungary as a reparation property belong- ing to the Soviet Union and it was at a good technical level for that time. The Tx building as an example of the Soviet architecture of the Stalin era was abandoned but not forsaken. It is now one of the attrac- tive sites except for Castle - Laitse Loss - for the tourists. P.S. If somebody in our Group has some photos of the antenna field in Laitse, it would be so nice to see them. National radio channels of Azerbaijan have been allocated additional frequencies to cover Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh. The Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan held a meeting during which it considered the issues of expanding the broadcasting of state radio channels in the liberated territories of the republic, the council said. The first issue on the agenda was the expansion of the broadcasting zones of the nationwide radio channels Azərbaycan Radiosu (Azerbaijani Radio), İctimai Radio (Public Radio) and Azad Azərbaycan (Free Azerbaijan) in Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh. The issue of allocating frequencies for radio broadcasting in the FM band from various radio and television stations (RTYS) located in the region was also discussed. Following the discussions, the council decided to transfer the frequency of 100.5 MHz to the automatic radio and television station "Minjivan" in the Zangilan region, the frequency of 103.5 MHz - to the automatic radio and television station "Khanlyg" in the Gubadli region and the frequency of 105.0 MHz - to the automatic radio and television station "Kelbajar" in the Kelbajar region, which are in use by Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC. Along with this, the frequencies of 99.5 MHz in the Zangilan region and 101.5 MHz in the Gubadli region were transferred to the use of the "Public Television and Radio Broadcasting", and the frequency of 92.1 MHz of the Shaheri automatic radio and television station in the Khojavend region was entrusted to the independent television and radio company Azad Azərbaycan . In August und September on the first saturday per month it's time to roll again some 43 year old cassettes. The program on August, 6th the french chansonnier Ricet Barrier will do the programming for one hour. It is a program from the "Carte Blanche"-series which was recorded in summer 1979, where stars at that time were invited to select their music on a sunday afternoon program. Barrier was born in August 1932, died in 2011, so it would be his 90th birthday this year. Unfortunately the second hour of his program got lost, only the first cassette survived. Times and frequencies: August, 6th 2022 1700-1800 UTC 6180 kHz LPH 270° towards Europe 2200-2300 UTC 13730 kHz HRS 295° towards Northamerica On September, 3rd the french singer and actor Mirelle Hartuch is in charge. She was born in September 1906 and was at the time the program was recorded already 73 years old. So we will hear music from the 1930s and 1940s as well as contemporary songs from the 70s. This program survived completly and will be broadcasted: September, 3rd 2022 1700-1900 UTC 6180 kHz LPH 270° towards Europe 2200-2400 UTC 13730 kHz HRS 295° towards Northamerica All transmission, as usual are broadcasted via Moosbrunn, Austria rated at 100kW carrier power. As you can see on the attached photo from 2008, the storage condition of the tapes was not ideal. The transmitter building of Radio Andorra in Encamp was left empty after 1981, the roof got leaky, water went into the building. In 2009 the inheritance disputes between Spain and Andorra could be settled and the remaining apparatus and some tapes could be safed. Since last year I'm trying to restore some of the old cassettes and bring them back to HiFi quality for the enjoyment of radiofans. The whole thing is a matter of the heart, no commercial activity. The national archive suppots this ideally, but the whole financial part is done privately by myself. If anyone likes to contribute, here is my GoFundMe- campaign: https://gofund.me/cc66ad4a. All raised funds go straight to the reconstruction of the programs (buying neccessary records, softwarelicenses for the DSP Tools, maintenence of the cassette players) as well as the transmission feed on shortwave. All transmission being already broadcasted are also avaiable online: https://www.aquiradioandorra.com/archives_sonores_emissions_integrales.html (via Christian Milling) (https://bclnews.blogspot.com/) * Encore - Classical Music on Radio Tumbril - Times, Frequencies, How to help keep Encore on the air... --------------------------------------------- Dear Listener, Regular Broadcast times of Encore are: 10:00 - 11:00 UTC Saturday 6070 kHz Channel 292 to Europe - Simulcast on 9670 kHz Repeated: 01:00 - 02:00 UTC Sunday 7730 & 5850 kHz WRMI to Europe US and Canada (Note change from 7780 to 7730) 16:00 - 17:00 UTC Sunday 9670 kHz Channel 292 to Europe 21:00 - 22:00 UTC Sunday 3955 kHz Channel 292 to Europe 02:00 - 03:00 UTC Monday 5950 kHz WRMI to the US and Canada 13:00 - 14:00 UTC Tuesday 15770 kHz WRMI to Europe, east coast of US and Iceland.
