Nizhny Novgorod. -------------------------------------------------- ----- Last week in Nizhny Novgorod, the transfer of transmitters of all FM radio stations of the city to the ORTPC tower, on Belinsky street, 9a, was completed. The last was the radio station "Humor FM" (107.4 MHz). Previously, it was broadcast from a mast at 7, Horse Drive. Also, the transmitter power at 107.4 MHz was reduced from 5 kW to 1 kW. Among them is the GPM Radio case. In the nomination "BEST REBRAND BUILDING / Best brand change project" the rebranding of "Humor FM" was noted. Humor FM lifts the spirits of millions of Russians every day. And a third of them are young people under the age of 29. This audience is mobile, media active, and the radio station develops unique content for it. In recent years, the playlist has been significantly changed on Humor FM, current humorous projects have been launched, which led to the decision to rebrand, to find something new in the visual embodiment of the radio station. The design department of GPM Radio was responsible for updating the Humor FM corporate identity. In addition to the new logo, non- standard spelling, modern font and its harmonious combination with the new color scheme, new characters were invented - funny cats became the basis of the visual image of the Humor FM brand, symbolizing the success of the radio station not only in FM, but also in digital. From now on, they follow the Humor FM logo everywhere and give everyone a good mood ... Literally from scratch, a transmitting facility was erected and a new settlement appeared on the map with residents-workers of the radio center. With all infrastructure, social institutions. People lived here for years, labor dynasties appeared. I note that until 1988, a number of radio centers, in addition to broadcasting radio programs, were engaged in jamming "enemy" voices. That is, there was enough work. After the collapse of the USSR, in Russia the centers remained "afloat" due to the internal LW / MW / SW broadcasting of state radio stations and foreign broadcasting, as well as retransmission of programs from various companies. In 2013 - 2015, there was a global reduction in analogue broadcasting in Russia. Mayak was the first to leave, then the Voice of Russia and, ultimately, Radio Russia. For FSUE RTRS (an organization in charge of radio centers), this has become a big problem. Transmitting facilities have been placed on conservation. The staff at many centers has been reduced to a minimum (security) Radio centers with an unclear future and, in fact, of no use, stand around the country in varying degrees of safety. Unfortunately, in the vast territories of the centers it is impossible to keep track of everything, and antenna systems, feeder lines die at the hands of marauders, bringing the transmitting objects into final disrepair. People hurt the most. When after conservation (in fact, the closure) of the radio center, the village is doomed to its historical decline. We leave for the Magadan Region. Olsky district. Rainbow village. In 1967, Radio Station No. 7 was put into operation here. Broadcasting in the ranges of LW and SW. It was. In 2015, the center was mothballed, and the village of Raduzhny was recognized as unpromising and subject to resettlement. (DX MIX 1248) LITHUANIA - Indeed, when I listened via the Karelia Perseus SDR 1386 kHz was the strongest at 21:50 with the daily "fireside chat" by President Volodomyr Zelensky. Much stronger than // 1287 kHz (also very strong), 873, 1404 and 657 (between poor and fair) with ongoing "Marafon" programming of joint Ukrainian television and radio. At 22:00 UT, dead air briefly, then continued with same program. Primarily for internal consumption. For example, in the clip sent to me by Kim, a warning for air raid / missile attack for the Odessa and Mykolaiv oblasts in south Ukraine was made. After 22:00 UT, lots of reports on ruSSian atrocities in the liberated areas near to Kyiv (civilians with tied arms and legs shot in the back of the head, etc) (Walt Salmaniw-BC-CAN, WOR April 4) Re: Baltic Waves 1386 past 2100 UTC with maybe Ukrainian. First report of it: So it looks as if this started on April 1st. What remains is the question about the schedule (2100 UT til when, all night long or closing at some point?) and who books this relay, i.e. who pays for it. And NHK rolled out its new concept of 21 or, in this case, 51 minutes transmissions also onto the Lithuanian transmitter. It used to be 2 x 30 minutes of Russian. Now see both Russian and English in their complete schedule for the crazy thing they have created. What kind of strategy is this mess?? (Kai Ludwig-D, direct and WOR April 4) MOLDOVA {Transnistria / officially PRIDNESTROVIA} - The latest documents received leave me puzzled: It is said to have only heard two explosions and that the medium wave antennas of VestiFM and Rossi are dynamited, but 'no credible photo' ! The medium wave antennas are located at the following locations: 47 17 27.3 N 29 24 56.5 E directional antenna with four masts. 47 17 27.3 N 29 24 56.5 E omnidirectional antenna one mast 47 16 48.5 N 29 26 11.5 E omnidirectional antenna one mast 47 16 48.5 N 29 26 11.5 E zarya antenna twelve masts To neutralize two medium wave antennas it normally takes two explosions, the count is good. What is troubling are the photos that show the shortwave steerable antenna in the southwest with minor damage (it cannot be said that it was caused by an explosion). You should know that this antenna is located at 47 15 48.2 N 29 24 01.0 E more than 4 kilometers from the medium wave antennas. A third explosion is necessary. Finally, even more disturbing, the photos taken by a drone show masts that are part of SHORTWAVE (!) antennas. The problem is that these masts are located at the extreme north of the station 47 17 28.3 N 29 24 57.6 E (800 meters from Ukraine) Everything suggests that it was a large-scale attack targeting the entire station and not the two medium wave antennas, as announced. "Pridnestrovye": This act of sabotage or surgical strike of Ukrainian forces has made it into the headlines of German radio stations. The news item also quoted a Russian statement that they hope that no situation arises in which Russia would be forced to intervene. Of course they are not forced to intervene but already there willing ... Already at an early stage of the Russian campaign I reminded the WoR readership of the ancient New Russia theme resurfacing in 2014: taking the whole area from Crimea and Donbass right through Moldova. It will be vital for Ukraine to defend the Odessa oblast at least until after the psychologically important May 8/9 deadline for Putin's triumph. And then multiply confirmed on the WOR iog: ``Also regarding the 78 kHz signal on the Russian SDR: I recall seeing a similar report a few years ago, and it was said to be the SDR picking up RF from an old Soviet era wired radio distribution system that (amazingly) is still in operation. That same report also mentioned a second signal on 120 kHz. Perhaps this is what you heard? Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` ``This is a traditional line transmitter/wire radio frequency in Russia. Unfortunately the English Wikipedia article says nothing about such networks in Russia. Russian article is much more extensive, and you can also find some info on this matter in the Spanish one: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B5_ %D0%B2%D0%B5%D1%89%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5 https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_por_cable By the way, cable radio in my city is completely off since 2012, due to economical non-efficiency. Best 73, Dmitry Mezin, Kazan, Russia`` ``Cute! How convenient to find this SDR already tuned to 78 kHz. I almost wonder why I so far did not have the idea to check if somewhere Radiotochka bleed-out can still be detected. By the way, word has it that in the GDR some wired radio systems (I understand using frequencies above 150 kHz, for use with regular radio sets) remained in operation into the 70s. But so far no citations are available to back up this gossip. And don't confuse two different things: "Cable radio" will nowadays in a number of countries be understood as "FM radio via TV coax cable", as introduced in the eighties. It's at present a nice voodoo doll for those who want to "close down analogue radio", and then they are very surprised when being told that this political gesture will just bring the cable distribution of many radio stations to an end. Germany ----------------- AZERBAIJAN on the SW. In 1961 the new USSR Transmission Center at location 40 36 38.27 N 46 19 49.02 E was built in Ganja. Ganja or Ganca (treasure) is a town in Western Azer- baijan. Since 1959, even before the complex was completed, Radio Baku started to transmit their daily programs abroad in Azerbaijani for the Diaspora on SW. Later Radio Baku began broadcasting in Arabic, Turkish and Persian. In 1980 the station transmitted for 6 hours a day. In accordance with the WRTH, 1970, Radio Baku used 4957.5, 6110, 9840 kHz for listeners speaking Arabic, Turkish, Farsi and Azerbaijani languages abroad. At that time the station in Ganja had 2 x Soviet RV-113 100 kW SW trans- mitters and one RV-48 170 kW SW transmitter, while it started in the 1950's with only one transmitter of 2 kW. It seems that in the Soviet times Radio Moscow didn't use much of this station as a relay station for their propaganda abroad, maybe because of its low power and modest antenna system. The power of these transmitters was enough just to provide good signals for the listeners in Turkey, Iran and to the nearest Islamic countries. And the antenna system was very modest - just 4 towers for the SW. It wasn't a wonder that for the European Dxers the reception of these signals was a hard catch. In 1991 after the collapse of the USSR the independent Azerbaijan de- creased their transmission in Arabic languages and increased it in Azerbaijani for the Diaspora. In 1992 the Azerbaijan International Radio was formed and Radio Baku was renamed The Voice of Azerbaijan. Since 1992 the newly named station in Ganja began its transmission in English, German, French, Russian, Azerbaijani and Georgian to represent the now independent country of Azerbaijan. Of course, the station continued their programs in Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Farsi and in Azerbaijani for the Diaspora - almost 10 hours a day. For Europe the station used the higher frequencies - 7160, 9165, 9490, 9840 and even 15240 kHz. Later in the 2000's it was also using 6110 and 9165 kHz just with their most powerful transmitter of 170 kW, one frequency at a time. During the period between 1992-1998 the Voice of Azerbaijan had another name - 'Radio Dada Gorgud'. Dada Gorgud was a different name for a very famous Book of Dede Korkut, The Epic Stories of the Turks. Since 2007 all programs in English, German and French were stopped and the Government focused on MW 549 kHz, 170 kW; 1296 kHz, 125 kW; and LW 216 kHz, 500 kW transmission only for the neighbouring coun- tries. That was the end of the SW time in Azerbaijan.
