True, these batteries will soon "sit down" and you will again have to run to the store for new ones. From a commercial point of view, the radio is an ideal source of constant profit from the sale of batteries. Therefore, Western manufacturers of portable equipment were made on disposable batteries. In the USSR, the approach to technology was different: if possible, get away from the need to constantly buy batteries ... Due to the wording of the reason for the blocking, Radonezh does not count on the success of the appeal to YouTube, the radio station notes. Radio is going to file a complaint with Roskomnadzor. According to radio director Yevgeny Nikiforov, during Lent, Radonezh was also subjected to a DDoS attack. "Prior to this, during the entire Great Lent, Radonezh was subjected to an unprecedented DDOS attack. According to our colleagues, the scale of the attacks is comparable to the attacks that Gazprom and its subsidiaries are still exposed to. Unfortunately, Radonezh does not have the resources of Gazprom and could only rely on the qualifications and disinterestedness of our IT assistants. Enemies of Russia highly appreciated the effectiveness of our activities, which cannot be said about the state structures that are called upon to support us. On the night of May 3, while patrolling the territory of the PRTC, border guards found a drone. The drone has been neutralized. An investigative team, experts, sappers arrived at the scene of the incident. Experts investigated the location of the drone detection and the attached cargo. The drone with a diameter of one and a half meters is assembled from various components. The equipment is so powerful that it is able to move loads up to 20 kg up to 30 km from the operator who controls it. Attached to the aircraft was a five-liter plastic canister containing an unknown brown liquid and a plastic box approximately 60 cm long and 25 cm in diameter, which contained 2 kg of plastid. The explosives were loaded with detonators. The whole structure was closed on a radio device, which was supposed to work remotely. A drone with such a dangerous cargo, according to experts, was launched from the Ukrainian side. Probably, the attackers planned sabotage. Their goal was a hangar, where mechanisms were installed for cooling the transformers of the radio and television center. In the event that they managed to realize their plans, important equipment of the PRTC would be disabled. (https://vk.com/dxing) * Forwarded from TSV Pridnestrovie - Everything is calm in Mayak, but the employees are nervous, Vitaly Kucherenko, director of the radio and television center, told TSV. "The night passed calmly. There were no new drones. The situation in the team is nervous, we calm people down. Everyone goes to work. Our team consists of 100 people. Less than half are residents of the village. The rest live in the Rybnitsa district and other villages of the Grigoriopol district." A drone with a plastid and an incendiary mixture was neutralized on the territory of the radio and television center yesterday. They wanted to destroy the transformer cooling system with a drone and disable the entire RTC. I just don't know, I will try to find out more. Marco, MWlist iog (2022-05-03) Moldova May 3, 2022 On the Russian news agency RT DE (operated by the Russian government) is another article about a terror attack on the Grigoriopol transmitter, but it failed, nothing was destroyed. I used the archive link because it is a live ticker and older news in the ticker won't be available anymore after a certain time. https://web.archive.org/web/20220503160040/https://de.rt.com/international/131481-liveticker-zum-ukraine-krieg- ausgangssperre/ I also don't know more at this time about that. I also don't know if the information I read is right or wrong. 999 and 1413 are still on air - normal operation. Germany ----------------- BELARUS "They built a separate country for us." How, thanks to the radio, a whole village appeared in Belarus and what happened to it today. Two years ago, in a quiet place, closed from the eyes of strangers by a forest, an explosion thundered. The 350-meter tower obediently took shape on the already deserted territory, the bulky Soviet equipment was scrapp- ed, 340 hectares of land ceased to be part of something big. Thus, an end was put to the long history of a large security facility 80 kilometers from Minsk, which one day simply ceased to be needed. Our today's report is about the impermanence of life and the destructiveness of time ... Detail in Russian + photo: (Alexander Vladimirovich ; RUSdx #1183 via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews May 1) BELARUS Sosnovy Lapichy broadcast center excellent report translation to En in part: location Lesnaya Polyana Sosnovyi Belarus Sosnovy Lapichy, Srednyaya Zarya 244degr 27mast antenna 2.2 km, formerly 1170 kHz 800 kW, location 53 24 36.24 N 28 31 12.68 E Sosnovy Lapichy longwave 279 kHz 500 kW mast 53 23 47.28 N 28 32 01.61 E Sosnovy Lapichy mediumwave 549 kHz 53 24 37.57 N 28 32 32.97 E In 1962, 23-year-old Lida, along with her young husband, was invited to the nascent village of Sosnovy, where something grandiose was being built - a huge radio transmitting center that would broadcast throughout the Union and beyond. Here, the newlyweds were promised an apartment in a fresh brick two-story building and a good job with a decent salary. [...] Here, young specialists were already waiting for a "kopeck piece" ready for life and warm jobs. By this time, RMS No. 7 had barely been completed. 340 hectares of land were allocated for the operation of the facility, which were gradually developed. [...] Working as a shift supervisor, still young Lida received about 260 rubles a month, while the salary of an engineer was 100-120 rubles. Living here was definitely not bad - at least in comparison with other villages in the country. At least that's how it seems to the old people now. Sosnovy was completely self-service and did not belong to any district service. The company had its own electricians, plumbers, builders and finishers, whose duties included, among other things, the maintenance of houses. Thanks to this autonomy, order was always maintained in resi- dential buildings, and people received everything they needed in a timely manner. In fact, the village was also considered part of a huge complex, and part of the equipment was installed on its territory. [...] After finishing at a construction site, the girl asked for a job. The only vacancy that a young worker without special education could count on was in the antenna group: the radio center that was being opened needed an antenna mast operator(!). This work involves working at height: checking the functioning of systems, adjusting equipment, inspecting structures on incredibly high towers, one of which at that time was considered the highest point in the country. In the village they are convinced that at that time there was not a single girl-mastman in the entire USSR and no one even thought about such a thing. The profession obliges to climb hundreds of meters on demand, to be physically prepared, and women were rarely allowed to do such work at that time. And when I managed to change eight tiers of light bulbs on a 354-meter mast in 45 minutes, I got down and twisted the muzzle of the peasants ! So Baba Katya stayed to work. At the height, the woman worked until her retirement, although after 45 years she was forbidden to climb the highest masts. [...] So it's easy to climb 354th: there are short steps, it's not the most dif- ficult. Four hours ... - quietly repeats and grins grandmother, who is hard to imagine climbing to the height of a 100-120-story building. In addition to Katya, many have moved to Sosnovy. [...] By the end of the nineties, the capacities began to gradually decrease, the staff was slowly reduced. Long-wave and medium-wave broadcasting faded out and was replaced by "digital", power-intensive radio transmitting centers, which often required their own substations, were under threat of closure. Rumors spread among the employees about the imminent end. [...] The Belarusian Radio and Television Transmitting Center was given the final sentence on April 1, 2016, the head of SUR No.7, Dmitry Kolomentsev, received an order to stop broadcasting. ... One fine day, they simply put a letter on my desk, where it was said that the National State Television and Radio Company was refusing to broadcast on long and medium waves. [...] After the elimination of the seventh radio broadcasting center, its ter- ritory was ceded to Beltelecom. For a while, the 300-meter masts and heavy Soviet equipment stood waiting in the wings. Roofers and other adventurers have chosen the "Abandonment", several videos have appeared on the Internet, where extreme people climb the masts to make spectacular videos and photos ... Today, the facility is still considered secure, although there is nothing left on the territory: a couple of buildings with bare walls and a se- curity guard who hastily hangs a sign on the barrier stating that access is prohibited here. Reginald Aubrey Fessenden, 1866-1932, was a Canadian-born inventor who did a majority of his work in the United States. During his life he received hundreds of patents in various fields, most notably ones related to radio and sonar. Fessenden is best known for his pioneering work developing radio technology, including the foundations of amplitude modulation (AM) radio. His achievements included the first transmission of speech by radio (1900), and the first two-way radiotelegraphic communication across the Atlantic Ocean (1906). This is RFA's 79th QSL design and is used to confirm all valid RFA reception reports from May - August 2022... In total, the 2022 collection contains ten QSL cards depicting costumes from different regions of Slovakia. https://vk.com/radioko?w=wall-161080476_833 (IK) CALENDAR - HISTORY OF DX HOBBIES, RADIO AND MAIL =========================================== WORLD NEWS. ============= DENMARK World Music Radio on 25800 kHz channel. For almost a year World Music Radio has been broadcasting 24hrs/7d on 25800 kHz with 60 Watts from Marslet, south of Aarhus in Jutland, Denmark. Propagation on the 11 meter band (25670-26100 kHz) is improving and 25800 kHz can currently be heard almost daily in Southern Europe and Western + Northern Africa and sometimes also in the Middle East and as far away as Western Australia and the Americas. I've been looking in the propagation forecast ('Funkprognose') in Weltweit Hoeren for May 2022 - and found that best chances of catching WMR on 25800 kHz are as follows: Western Africa: 11-18 UTC Central Africa: 06-19 UTC (especially 14-18 UTC) Southern Africa: 06-20 UTC (especially 09-17 UTC) Eastern Africa: 05-18 UTC (especially 09-17 UTC) Middle East: 10-16 UTC South East Asia: 06-17 UTC Western Australia: 06-12 UTC (especially 10-11 UTC) South East Australia: 06-09 UTC Brazil/Uruguay/Argent.10-20 UTC A very good indicator to check propagation on 11m is this site: If the 10 m amateur band (28 MHz) is open, chances are that 11 mb is also open. WMR also broadcasts 24hrs/7d on 927 kHz (200W), 5930 kHz (200W) and 15700 kHz (20W). Hopefully power on 15700 kHz will soon be increased to 200W. Reception reports are welcomed to: World Music Radio P.O.Box 112 DK-8960 Randers S+ Denmark, Europe. Please enclose return postage (five Euro or 1-2 IRC's) if possible. The new 2022 QSL hasn't been printed yet but the design is ready. Btw: I think WMR is the only broadcasting station currently using the 11 meter band. But according to FCC-files it seems like licences have been issued to a number of (utility?) transmitters in the 11 mb in the US: 25870, 25910, 25950, 25990, 26000, 26030, 26070, 26090, and 26100 kHz for four different services: 'Broadcast Auxiliary (low power)', 'Broadcast Auxiliary Remote Pickup', 'XC' and 'XT'. I didn't find any details about modulation (NFM?) or power. Wondering if these stations actually are on the air?
