On November 2, 2021, the Izvestia radio channel was registered. On the Moscow air at 107.0 MHz and in St. Petersburg at 92.9 MHz, an advertisement and beating "Radio Izvestia - we are making news" have already sounded. Earlier, there were no advertising blocks on the air, in their place were the audio subdivisions of the air and the screensaver of the Russian News Service, which was broadcast on these frequencies until July 2016. Recall that the sound of the IZ.RU TV channel sounded at the PCN frequencies in August 2017. It was assumed that later the frequency will be sold. However, it was not possible to agree on the sale. According to the extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the founder of Baltika RV LLC from October 20 is GPM Radio LLC. Radio Baltika stopped broadcasting on December 20, 2016 by the decision of its then owner, News Media SPB. From that day on, the station's frequencies were broadcasting the soundtrack of the Life78 channel (later IZ.RU) with the beats of Baltika (so as not to violate the terms of the license). But since October 26, 2021, the radio station's transmitter has been disabled. Most likely, the frequency will return "from the lull" with some project of Gazprom. In addition to Baltika, now in St. Petersburg (92.9) and Moscow (107.0), one more audio track of Izvestia continues to operate - already on the basis of the closed radio station Russian News Service. It had been suggested by some sources that the station was located in Smolensk in western Russian, between Moscow and the border with Belarus. But a posting on the Ukrainian DX Blog says TDoA results point to a site in northern Belarus for both 3940 and a medium wave outlet on 1575 kHz https://udxb.blogspot.com/ (TDoA = "Time Distance of Arrival", a technique used to try and pinpoint a station's location using receivers in different sites) It has also been reported that station rebroadcasts Russian-language material such as podcasts and other material from the internet, some of it is radio-related while other material has been political. Also Western and Russian music has been heard on the station. It is thought the power could be up to 2kW. A DXer in St Petersburg has received an eQSL from the Free Waves Bay. The station has a web address of https://id043199.myrh.ru and email address given as 6783432@gmail.com http://qsl- review.blogspot.com/2021/10/radio-free-waves-bay.html For many years Russian "hooligan" stations have been heard around 3100 kHz with QSOs, music and other chat. But Free Waves Bay has moved into a more higher profile location on the edge on the 75 metre broadcast band where more people are likely to hear it. Another Russian station called Radio Gromel was also reported on 3920 USB last month playing a mix of Russian and Western music, reported by DXers on the HF Underground forum. https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,87695.0.html (Paul Watson) Allen Dean adds: The Russian pirate station Radio Free Waves Bay continues to be heard quite regularly during the evenings on 3940 kHz. One of the few in the countries of the former USSR who has retained its activities to this day. Since 2007, the owner of the transmitting facility is Russia - FSUE RTRS ("Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network") It is located near the village of Mayak, Grigoriopol region of the PMR. It is a town-forming enterprise for the village. In the best years, the center's workload for medium-wave and short-wave broadcasting was 23 hours a day. Nowadays, albeit with an incomplete load, the center is alive and the transmissions from its antennas sound on the air. There are various antenna feeder systems in the center, but the most famous is the swivel antenna for short waves, built in 1980 and in use today. The antenna can transmit power of 1000 kW (1 MW) through itself and work anywhere in the world. The antenna's sister in Transnistria was in Bulgaria (Parsko radio center) Dismantled, like the radio center itself, in 2012. Broadcasting on medium waves: 621 kHz - Radio Prednestrovie (Radio 1 plus) 999 kHz / 1548 kHz - Transworld Radio (broadcasts in different languages) 1413 kHz - Vesti-fm It will not be difficult to hear these transmissions on an ordinary receiver. Dear Anatoly, thanks a lot for your nice reception report from Russia! We are really surprised to learn how many people can listen to us all over Europe and from Siberia to the East Coast oft the United States. Inspite of the World Wide Web people still enjoy listening on shortwave, and like us they are fascinated by the myth of wave propagation. That explains the name of our station "Mystery21". We have been on air for many years, but we are newcomers on shortwave. We chose the 60m band because oft the variety of propagation conditions: short distance in Europe during the day and DX after sunset. Our equipment is completely homemade and we are testing with 1,2 KW PEP from 8 relatively cheap mosfets and a simple inverted V dipole antenna installed at 25 meters above the soil. We use sound processing with an optimod pc card and with stereo tool. Our bandwidth is a little bit higher than with most commercial stations. We apologize for not having any printed QSL cards at the moment. Considering the high number of reception reports we are thinking about E-QSL. You will find further information and pictures on our facebook site. There you will also find our webstream during the transmissions. If you like, you can join our facebook group or youtube. Mystery21 - The Spirit of Music Stay tuned and enjoy listening on shortwave, especially on the 60m band. (4870khz +/- QRM) We are looking forward to hearing from you again. 73.... Since 1 November, more announcements have been broadcast to warn users and a call centre has been set up to explain the possible listening alternatives (from FM to DAB). In the run-up to Christmas, public radio will launch an intensive advertising campaign in the print media and online magazines on 22 November to promote the purchase of digital DAB receivers to replace analogue radio. The shift away from medium-wave has been underway since the 2000s, affecting countries that have an alternative FM network or are in the process of creating one in DAB. But AM (amplitude modulation) still remains a resource for countries with large territorial coverage that can reach the entire population with a few installations.
