An interesting read courtesy of DW: (Walt Salmaniw-BC-CAN, wor Aug 15) MOLDOVA Radio Free Europe is back on the air on CB 873 and 1494 kHz from 18.15 to 18.45 UT. I heard it on Monday Aug 2nd with a program in Russian. Usually only on Mondays. In the past, programs in Romanian and Moldavian were broadcast from Radio Free Europe, and therefore they are now compiled from there. In the program, they announce the address: Earlier I asked them about the exact name and they answered that they are Radio Free Europe, not Radio Liberty. (Rumen Pankov-BUL, via RUSdx #1145 via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Aug 8) As we know Radio Liberation (later Radio Liberty) was started to serve the peoples of the USSR, except the Baltic States, and Radio Free Europe served the Warsaw Pact states except the GDR. Why then is the Moldovan Service of RFE/RL called Radio Europa Libera. The reason for this: Radio Europa Libera was started in 1951 to serve Romania. It was only in 1989 that the target area was expanded to include the (former) Soviet Republic of Moldova. This part of the service survived when the broad- casts to Romania were stopped in 2008. (Dr. Hansjoerg Biener-D, wor Aug 8) RUSSIA Elimination of precise time radio stations is planned in Russia. Rosstandart opposed the planned liquidation of the radio station broadcast ing precise time signals. Now such radio stations are run by RTRS. By 2024, they are planned to be turned off, although their signals, among other things, are used to ensure the security and defense of the country. State Commission on Radio Frequencies to resolve the issue with the exact time. The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) intends to raise the issue of continuing the operation of radio stations broadcasting precise time signals. According to current plans, the shut- down of these radio stations should occur by 2024 ... Specialized radio stations GSPC with call signs RBU (66.6 kHz), RTZ (50 kHz) and RVM (4996 kHz, 9996 kHz, 14966 kHz) transmit information on the difference between the Universal Time (UT1) and World Coordination Time scales as part of the reference frequency and time signals. time (UTC) ... At the same time, the radio stations RBU, RVM {sic} and RTZ are subject to liquidation in the period until 2024. Now they belong to the state enter- prise Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS). Until recently, RTRS was under the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications (Rospechat), the functions of which have been transferred to the Ministry of Digital Science since the end of 2020 ... Moscow. ----------------------- Radio MANHATTAN FM. WEB: https://manhattanfm.101.ru/ Broadcasts popular music and dance songs. In June 2007, GPM Radio announced the launch of an Internet radio broadcasting portal based on the popular 101.RU resource, which in 1996 became the pioneer of Russian Internet streaming. With the launch of the updated portal 101.RU in Russia, a new page has opened in the history of radio broadcasting and new media, a qualitatively new service in Runet, designed to satisfy the growing demands of the most demanding Internet users. For the first time in the history of Russian radio broadcasting and web streaming on the Internet, professional radio stations independent of the offline product appeared, designed exclusively for listening on the Internet. (https://vk.com/allradi) Russia. ------------- Radio Russian rock. WEB: https://radiopotok.ru/radio/1594 Radio Russian Rock is a collection of music and songs from the 80s and 90s. If you have gone through the school of life these years, then this radio is for you, because such legends as Alice, Agatha Christie, Chaif, Kipelov, Aria, Mumiy Troll and many others sound here. An interesting fact is that at one time Russian rock was a forbidden part of the Russian stage, but quickly won the hearts of millions of listeners of the Soviet Union. This influential music has nurtured and educated an entire generation. Therefore, this is just the perfect place for memories of that era! Connect to the wave of Russian rock radio and enjoy music that does not age and does not go beyond the expiration date and is irreplaceable! (https://vk.com/allradi) Russia. ------------ Radio ReggaeUniverse. WEB: https://reggaeuniverse.ru/ Broadcasts popular music and songs in the genre of folk, ethno. The slogan of the radio station ReggaeUniverse is "Regardless of what happened in the past, let's try to live our best." The birthplace of the Reggae genre is Jamaica, so compositions from this country noticeably prevail on radio air. But there is also music of the genre Reggae, Dancehole and Dub from all countries. (Media: http://www.krutoymedia.ru/news/8238.htm) WORLD NEWS. ===================== * Sadly, we will need to postpone the EDXC conference that was due to take place in September 2021. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This is, of course, due to the continuing uncertainties around Covid-19 and the various restrictions that are in place in most countries. These make travel either impossible or more expensive than usual. Several members have expressed concern about whether they would feel comfortable attending a conference in September and, with people from many different countries attending, it would be difficult. It could also be that local regulations might suddenly prohibit such events, after we had booked accommodation and flights. Therefore, we are looking into options of rescheduling the next in-person EDXC Conference to take place in May 2022. We will send more details on this when they become available. We want to ensure the health and safety of members who would like to attend, whilst also maximising the chances of a successful and well attended conference. There will be another EDXC online meeting (via Zoom) at some point this summer, open to everyone, the date is yet to be confirmed.
